From the Pembina Valley Online–The Child and Family Services of Central Manitoba (CFSCM) Foundation, which operates separately from the CFS agency, exists for one reason — to provide opportunities for growth and connection to the area’s children.

The chances it provides help the youngest members of the Pembina Valley establish roots, make community connections, and have fun while they do it.

Flexible programming for every interest

Chris Chabbert, the executive director of CFSCM, who also sits on the foundation board as its secretary and treasurer, said the CFSCM Foundation has three programs that help children become a part of their community, including its most flexible, Chance 2 Grow.

The program meets children where their interests already lie, providing funding for community programs that reflect what each child cares about.

“Chance 2 Grow covers every community in our region for anything,” said Chabbert.

“That could be hockey, swimming, figure skating, soccer, baseball, [Girl Guides] —  that sort of thing.”
