Good morning,
I would like to draw your attention to two upcoming events related to the Children’s Special Allowance (CSA) settlement.
Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba and Jewish Child and Family Service (JCFS) are hosting CSA settlement information events on the same evening, on Wednesday, April 9.
Both events are free and open to the public. The agencies hope that those who attend include current and former youth in care seeking more information about applying for the settlement, as well as workers, family members and guardians, and community supports.
The Sudden Wealth Management Event at JCFS, which will run from 6 to 9 p.m., will feature representatives from SEED Winnipeg (Supporting Employment & Economic Development) and the Exchange Group (the claims administrator). They will be on hand to answer questions and to assist youth to fill out their claim forms. Dinner will be included. Please note that registration is required for this event. See poster below for more details.
The CSA Settlement Open House event at CFS of Western Manitoba will also be held on April 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Exchange Group, SEED Winnipeg and CFS of Western will be in attendance to answer questions, provide detailed information about the claims process, and help youth and families fill out forms. SEED will provide information about handling sudden wealth.
The CFS of Western event will feature a performance by the GAP Youth Drum Group. Pizza will be provided for all guests.
I invite you to extend the information about these two events to workers and support staff so that we may encourage as many young people and families as possible to attend.
Posters for both events are below, and the information is also available on our website.
Thank you to all of our agencies for continuing to support children and youth who may be eligible for the CSA settlement.
Best Regards,
Jay Rodgers, CEO, General Child and Family Services Authority
