From the Winnipeg Sun–The Manitoba government has enacted the Safe Access to Abortion Services Act, which takes effect Saturday. The law establishes buffer zones to prevent protests, demonstrations, or picketing near clinics and facilities providing abortion services.
The legislation creates safety perimeters around clinics that primarily offer abortion services. Hospitals, pharmacies, doctors’ offices, and other healthcare facilities that provide medical or surgical abortions can also request a buffer zone.
