I hope everyone is settled back into a routine after the summer and that you have been enjoying the beautiful fall weather.
The General Authority held its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Oct. 5. Once again, due to the pandemic, our event was held virtually. We feel that this year’s virtual AGM was even better than the first time around.
This year, we changed the format somewhat and played a series of video vignettes rather than featuring one keynote speaker. Our talented speakers touched on a variety of GA initiatives, including the great innovative work we saw from agency staff during COVID-19, ongoing Family Finding training, supporting our young people as they transition to adulthood and youth engagement going forward.
Families Minister, Rochelle Squires, opened our meeting with some inspiring remarks about the work we have done over the past year with children and families and recognized the many positive initiatives and service trends at the GA and our agencies.
We had a great turnout of about 60 virtual attendees and were pleased with the positive comments we received following our AGM. If you missed it, a video of the entire event is available on our website (https://generalauthority.ca/2021/10/general-authority-2020-21-annual-general-meeting-held-oct-5/) along with a copy of our annual report and financial statements.
We hope you were able to join us for the AGM, or you will take some time to take a look at our year in review on our websites. I’m really proud of all we accomplished, across our agencies, to ensure children and families were supported over the past year, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
