Stories to Inspire

The General Authority will be holding an interactive webinar for directors and staff only on Bill C-92 (An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families) on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families (Bill C-92) came into force in its entirety on Jan. 1, 2020. This legislation was co-developed with Indigenous partners with the goal of keeping Indigenous children and youth connected to their families, communities, and culture.

The coming into force of the Act affirms the inherent right of First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities to move forward with legislation to exercise jurisdiction over child and family services at a pace that they choose.

This webinar, hosted by General Authority CEO Jay Rodgers and the General Authority’s legal counsel, will address Bill-C92 and child welfare in Manitoba.

Time: 1:30 p.m to 3:30 p.m.

Location: This is a virtual event.

The agenda for this interactive webinar is:

• Overview of An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis children, youth and families and Implications for Child and Family Services in Manitoba – PowerPoint Presentation;
• Comparison of Bill C-92 With Manitoba’s Current Legislation – PowerPoint Presentation;
• Review of the General Authority’s Definition of Significant Measure Policy Statement;
