A note from the Safe & Together Institute about the new domestic violence video created by one of the General Authority’s service regions. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the United States.

“We love when we get to help local authorities change their practice. Manitoba (Canada) Child and Family Services Agencies and their Authority (General Authority), using the Safe & Together Model’s perpetrator pattern-based approach, is now working to communicate child protection changes to the community in this powerful video.

Few child welfare agencies have worked harder to shift from domestic violence destructive practice as the Manitoba (Canada) Child and Family Services Agencies and their Authority (General Authority). Using the Safe & Together Model’s perpetrator pattern-based approach, they have implemented domestic violence-informed practice coaches, changed policies to open cases in the names of fathers and created dual case tracks for perpetrators (mandatory) and survivors (voluntary).

Take a moment to watch this public service video, called Breaking the Silence, they created to communicate to their community their shift in practice.

We encourage you to read more about Domestic Violence Awareness Month’s history at the website for the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence.”
